Chris Lang is a soulful musician based in Denver, Colorado. He specializes in saxophones and harmonica, but also records and performs on flute, penny whistle, keyboards, and obscure percussion (!). He has shared the stage with artists such as Stanley Turrentine, Kirk Whalum, Maceo Parker, Medeski Martin and Wood, Nelson Rangell, Darren Rahn, Henry Butler, David Murray, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and many others. Chris has recorded and/or performed with jazz legend Hugh Ragin, R&B legend and Grammy winner Solomon Burke, rock legend Big Head Todd and the Monsters, along with
Pucho and His Latin Soul Brothers, Peter Penrose, Rudy Royston, Andy Nevala, Vernon Barbary, Sam Mayfield, Larry Howard, Donn Thomas, and others. His 2005 recording, Soul Food Vol. 1, has been featured on the Gospel Music Channel nationally, and recordings with his current band, Dave LeMieux and House of Soul, have won national awards and garnered some real buzz in the industry. Chris has produced horn section work for clients worldwide and recording projects for a wide variety of artists. Some examples include soundtrack work for a pilot program on Nickelodeon, an audio book for Zondervan, and documentary films in the US and Japan. Chris currently works as a music director at Colorado Community Church, and serves as Executive Director of a non-profit organization, More Than Music, that specializes in giving away musical instruments all over the world. Aside from touring and recording with House of Soul, Chris enjoys cutting loose with his local funk / jazz quintet, Mo’Kestra, whenever schedules permit. When he's not on the road or in the studio, Chris likes nothing better than to head to the park with his wife Beth and kids Joshua and Sarah.
