Linq
Linq is an edgy, emotional, often political singer/songwriter. A serendipitous series of events propelled her out of a career as a pharmacist and pharmacy owner onto an exciting musical path. Her songs are a unique blend of folk and rock, with an occasional touch of blues, funk, and even techno. Using life's tough experiences, Linq is not afraid to tackle controversial issues, and brings a strong, reasoned voice to whatever topic she addresses, including war, racism, homophobia, health care, and the environment.
At an age when many look forward to retirement, Linq is kicking it up, cranking it out, and defying stereotypes. This singer-songwriter's music is fresh, uncompromising, decidedly un-stodgy, and lush with life experience. She's passionate about touching lives and making a positive difference in the world. One of the most striking things about her music is the amount of joy and enthusiasm she exudes in spite of her edgy tunes and topics. Linq came of age in the 60's. Her music harkens to roots in the popular music of that time with its political folk, psychedelic rock, and social conscience. Harkens but doesn't duplicate. This is a woman who has found her groove: strongly vulnerable, irresistibly passionate, and dynamically humanistic.
Linq's music has also captured attention and won her several awards. Her first health care song, Tired, (FAST MOVING DREAM 2006) was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2006 International Narrative Song Competition (INSC), and Change the Picture (CHANGE THE PICTURE, GEORGE! 2007, LIFE GOES ON 2009) was a nominee in the 2009 Political Song Category in the Just Plain Folks Music Awards, largest in the world.
