What Light does pierce the darkness glowing
The first birth cries of a baby boy
For whom the angels sing rejoice
To shepherds watching in the night
Jesus Christ is born this night
Glory in the highest
Peace on the earth
Good will to all men

And yet with darkened hearts unknowing
The Word of God has become a man
Hear the prophet’s words of dark forbodding
He was forsaken of men
And He died for the sinful deeds of man
