Over the Blue Ridge Mountains
in the darling buds of May,
I can see the sun rising
at the break of a new day.
 
And every day the sun shines
on the trees of auburn and green.
The forest whispers secrets
to the mountains oh so keen.
 
I long for days of summer
and the feel of a summer breeze.
I long for the lonely mountain
standing tall behind the trees.
 
Beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains
a world we will never know
and flowers of such beauty
we will never see them grow.
