Waitin’ for Life to Begin

I’d like to say, I’m intellectually disconnected
but, mostly I’m bored
when everything  I lust for is decidedly out of reach
and the payments, I can’t afford
livin’ on grass and booze and video stimulation
when does childhood end?
I’m counting on the music and the luxury of friends
to see me through these days of discontent

I am waitin’ for life to begin

I’d like to say, the days ahead are better then the past
as we seemingly appear to evolve
but, everyday the headlines rearrange the words
because man continues to revolve
livin’ on ass and snooze and media manipulation
with a credit card, it never ends
still counting on the gods from Mt. Olympus to descend
and to grant the possibilities again

I’m barely here, if a stiff wind came I’d fly, high
I’m suspended here in a world that sees me not
I’m standing in what’s left from all that came before
I’m standing in the rubble of our evolutionary war

I’d like to say, I see a lining in the clouds,
that’d be a lie
the future holds only what the evening has to give
how far and how high
living on everything they say will bring the end
because, nothing brings you joy like a sin
I’m counting on the odds that somehow I will survive
and I’ll live to do it over again
