The Human Race

With tortured souls, we rant and we rave
With tortured hearts, somehow we’re still brave

We creep and we crawl, we rise to fight
We claw our way forward, with all of our might

With vision and grace, we search for the truth
We find peace and comfort, alongside of you

With commitment and strength, we will find our way
Ten thousand voices, singing brightly today

And though they fight us, and they shout us down
We’ll never be vanquished, we’ll never get down

And when it is time, when we reach our goal
We’ll know we’ve done good, deep down in our soul

And when we were born, you entered our soul
And you reached out for us, and you made us whole

And when we have doubt, and when we’re not sure
You climb deep inside us and help reassure

And when we feel pain, and when we must cry
There’s a way to get through it, there’s a way to survive

And when we’re not doubtful and when we have strength
We find noble purpose, we find common sense

And so we find comfort, and so we find strength
And so we find our way, forever hence

We’re the human race, this is who we are
With all of our shortfalls, with all of our flaws

We’ll be here forever, we won’t walk away
