Dancing In The Candlelight 

1. He was cold standing guard
        A frozen trench in northern France
        December 1916
        A nineteen-year-old fusilier
       Wished he’d never left for war
       Swept on by the cheering and the drums

Refrain: See them dancing in the candlelight
                Turning through the phases of a summer moon
                Two hearts beating in the heart of the night
                A boy in khaki and his bride in white

2. It won’t be long the sergeant says
        Until we’ve done what must be done
        And our guns have blown the Hun to kingdom come
        Our women folk will line the streets
        We’ll march with flowers at our feet
        And be heroes to a man

        A telegram before midday
