Hero

I want to be brave like heroes on TV.
Faster than a speeding bullet, save the world from evil and greed.
But what can I do?  I’m not brave at all
In the dark I’m scared of sounds down the hall.

Wanna be brave. Ride the rides at the fair.
The ones that are fast and cool.  The ones that make me scared.
But they make me queasy, dizzy and sick
Would kids think I’m brave from the rides that I pick?

Wanna be brave, speak in front of the class.
Not get all embarrassed, break out in a sweat and talk too fast.
I always get nervous, feels like I’m gonna cry
Could that be bravery, when I feel so shy?

Then I think about things-I already know
Being brave’s not a speech you give or TV hero
It’s reaching for answers that aren’t easy to make
Making tough choices is being brave and it feels so great!

The next time a kid wants me to cheat in a game
Tell a lie or call someone a really bad name
If I have the courage to say there’s no way.
Then I become a true hero and I’ve saved the day!
