Beyond the stars


A man of years spoke of a love in his youth so long ago
Of how they touched as one until the winds began to blow
How he held her close in their darkest hour as the winds took her away
He’ll never see her face again before his dying day

He searched for her in the rising sun of each and every day
In evenings shadow she sings a song he can no longer play
She speaks to him on a thousand winds in words she cannot say
For she’s gone so far away

Far away she sails no broken heart to bear
Far away she flies beyond the stars
Far away through seas of time she flies into the light
Far away the Universe is hers

He glimpsed her in the cold, cold moon of a snowy Winter’s night
She left no trace in Orion’s sword where last he saw her light
No guiding star to draw his eye from those endless lonely days
For she’s gone so far away
