Richard James is a California artist who has an innovative and talented background with far-ranging interests. He was the lead composer from 1996 through 2001 for the amazingly popular Blue Mountain greeting card site which got a hundred million hits a month. He's played virtually all major spots in San Diego, including Civic Theatre and Symphony Hall, Old Globe, SD Rep and major hotels, restaurants, and casinos throughout the area along with many private gigs. Some of the shows he has worked are Grease, Meet Me in St. Louis, South Pacific.
Richard James has a background in Classical and Jazz piano studying privately in New York after beginning at the age of six. He studied string bass in San Diego for several years with Bertram Turetzky and played in many local orchestras. “... great exposure to the classics. It really opens up your ears."
Richard sent a friend, Donn Trenner, samples of some of the music he composed for many different greeting cards. Donn has an incredible list of credits and has played with the legendary Charlie Parker as well as with many other Jazz greats over the years. He also conducted and played piano for the Les Brown Orchestra, Ann Margaret, Nancy Wilson, Jack Jones, Shirley Maclaine, and Bob Hope to name a few. He was the music director and played piano on the Steve Alan Show. Donn is a reputable advocate for Richard and has some very nice things to say about his composition skills like ”…. I am WORN OUT from your intense musical journey but will not go further until I tell you that you are a MAJOR talent.”
This is scary music meant to set a mood of concern, watchfulness, one senses that something is about to happen. We must be ready.
