Based on the South coast of England, Jake Garratt is an exciting young composer who recently finished studying music at Bath Spa University. Jake has extensive experience working with and writing for a wide range of ensembles across many genres, from Classical orchestras and choirs to Contemporary Rock and Pop bands. A deep knowledge of Cinematic and Classical music and influences from the Rock, Pop, and Funk worlds combine to make Jake Garratt’s unique sound perfect for Films, Soundtracks, Trailers, concert halls, and stages.
Jake Garratt recently graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in music from Bath Spa University. During his time there he completed works such as 'Before...' an a cappella carol that premiered in both England and France, He also won the NHIG’s Bath Ironwork Composition Competition with his piece ‘The Hammer & Anvil’ which will be heard from a band stand in Bath’s Parade Gardens. After University, Jake was awarded the prize for composition (an award presented to only one student) for excellent achievement in and contribution to the composition department. In 2014, he began writing soundtracks for Film, and has since completed a number of commissions for Short Films from up-and-coming directors including: "The Hardest Fight" - Owain Astles, "Speechless" - Tanya Wylie, and "George Bear" - Beth Bayes. Jake has worked with many established composers including Andy Keenan, Will Gregory, James Saunders, Joe Duddell, and Matthew Sergeant on his journey to create his own unique career.
