Based in Los Angeles, Wendy Starland is a Singer-Songwriter and Producer, and an artistic force in the music industry who creates a fusion of Rock, Pop, Jazz, and World music. She was honored by The Songwriters Hall of Fame, was named VH1's Best Emerging Artist, and was featured on Moby's Grammy-nominated album Last Night. Wendy is credited with discovering superstar Lady Gaga, and she has written and produced a single released in Europe with multi-platinum artists Norah Jones, Feist, and Edie Brickell, which landed at #8 on the charts.
Wendy Starland was discovered by James Brown's sax player Maceo Parker who invited her onstage at an Ithaca, NY concert. She improvised for 20 minutes, received a standing ovation, and the Ithaca Times raved, calling her "the mystery diva in Maceo Parker's second set." As a result, her band "The Honey" was sponsored for a time by fashion designer Donna Karan and opened for Grandmaster Flash at Roseland on New Year's Eve. And the Disney Channel featured Wendy at Miracle on Madison Avenue, with an audience of 80,000. Wendy was booked in every venue in Ithaca for the next few years while she continued her studies at Cornell during the day. She was the opening act for Shawn Colvin at Summer Stage in Prospect Park and for Grandmaster Flash on New Year's Eve at Roseland. Wendy has worked with amazing musicians and producers, including Gary Lyons, Nick Moroch and Jimmy Presiosi. Her dream has always been to release a multi-platinum album. Wendy has co-written a song with 9th Prince of KillArmy and is featured on the chorus while he raps on the verses.
