Alan Brian Curtis (African Tracks)

Home: Tennessee USA

Nashville, Tennessee, Composer and Producer Alan Brian Curtis has had a rich career working as a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and guitar synthesist. In addition to writing, producing and recording his music, he heads up the BenEvolence Band, offering up a spicy blend of hot Pop music fused with rhythmic elements of Latin, World and Afro Beat, and Tropical Caribbean music, elegantly tricked out with a touch of Jazz. Alan's influences include the great vocal harmonies and stylings of R&B, Gospel and Soul genres and the entire body of Latin and Brazilian rhythms.

(DECEMBER 2013)
Joy to the World

Our December Editor's Choice Award goes to Alan Brian Curtis's joyful and energetic Brazilian Samba arrangement of the classic Christmas Carol Joy To The World, featuring group vocals, infectious street Samba rhythms, a hot horn section, guitar, bass, and keyboards. Alan's Samba will add a trendy and exciting warmth to any production around the world.

During May 2010, Alan Brian Curtis won the prestigious "Love Is The Answer" Remix Contest, hosted by the hot band, Weezer and Indaba Music. Alan's Afro-Pop influenced reemix will be featured on an upcoming Weezer EP, and he's co-writing a song with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer.

Alan's other awards include: Honorable Mention: Raheem DeVaughn "I Don't Care" Remix Competition, and Honorable Mention: T-Pain "Take Your Shirt Off" Remix Competition.

Alan's writing and producing strengths which were used to remix these major label artists are clearly on display on his own original compositions available for licensing on theis website

Alan's music has received much critical acclaim. Here is a quote from Skope Mag's April 2010 "Music Up Close" column: "The guitar work is exceptional, but Alan also adds layers with synthesizer that would take a full orchestra to produce. He told me that his approach was 'to use the available technology to produce as natural and organic sounding finished song as possible.' My favorite song is 'Gracious,' which is an inspiring island gospel tune with a full backup chorus...".
