Havana CarboHome: Massachusetts USA Havana Carbo is a Cuban-American singer and composer who embraced Jazz during her high school years after moving to the US. Her soulful vocal interpretations and compositions blend unique elements; highlights include "Arco Iris," a 7-minute chamber piece for Jazz guitar, soprano saxophone and piano, and the "Stockbridge Requiem," a Latin/Jazz/Classical setting of the Requiem Mass for organ, full chorus and Jazz quintet. With glowing worldwide reviews, A. DeSouteiro has selected Carbo "Best Female Jazz Vocalist of the Year" in 2004, 2007, and 2010 in JSR’s International Jazz Poll. |

Havana Carbo holds an MFA in Composition from NYU, is a Yip Harburg Fellow, a former Soul Note recording artist, and now records on her own label MODL. Her compositions have been presented by Lou Rodgers’ Golden Fleece concerts NYC, Simon’s Rock of Bard College, and Saint Peter’s Church NYC. Other works include "First Dance," a one-act Music Theatre piece. Famed Historian Arnaldo Desouteiro of La Tribuna and JSR wrote: "Carbo possesses a singularly warm timbre, extraordinary phrasing and stirring expressiveness, destined to develop a cult following."
