Grammy winning artist Mark W. Winchester is respected in the Roots Rock and Rockabilly world as one of the best practitioners of "slap" upright bass, but he's also an accomplished songwriter and performer in his own right. He has toured and recorded with the Brian Setzer Orchestra and Emmylou Harris' Nash Ramblers, and is also a founding member of the cult-favorite rockabilly band The Planet Rockers. Mark's songs have been covered by many artists, including Brian Setzer, Balsam Range, and Randy Travis, who took "Would I" into the Top 20.

A Nashville, Tennessee resident for 27 years, Mark was a member of the Brian Setzer Orchestra from 1997-2001, and he won a Grammy for playing on the "Jump, Jive, And Wail" single from The Dirty Boogie album. He also penned several songs with Brian, and was asked to provide Lead Vocals when Brian recorded Mark's "Rooster Rock"; a testament to his ability to deliver his own material. Two award-winning Bluegrass artists have reached the top spot on the Bluegrass charts with Mark W. songs: Balsam Range with "Moon Over Memphis," and Terry Baucom with "What'll I Do?"
