Bopping on 52 street was a time we all call retro when many great artists played on 52 Street New York. In England many players played on the passenger boats so they could hear people like Dizzy and Charlie Parker plus many others when they docked in New York. This is it the real thing today.   Keywords: yesteryear dated evocative period style nostalgic old world old-fashioned out-of-date passe period retro bebop blues boogie bop fusion sax tenor bird dizzy In its heyday from 1930 through the early 1950s, 52nd Street clubs hosted such jazz legends as Miles Davis, Harry Gibson, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Nat Jaffe, Marian McPartland, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Louis Prima, Art Tatum, Fats Waller, and many more. Although musicians from all schools performed there, after Minton's Playhouse in uptown Harlem, 52nd Street was the second most important place for the dissemination of bebop;. In fact, a tune called "52nd Street Theme" by Thelonious Monk became a bebop anthem and jazz standard. People came to hear real musicians playing like a flock of birds all bringing their individuality to music. Playing real instruments and everyone loved it. I have tried to open a window on the 1950, s and let the fresh air in.
