Hailing from Gibraltar, Joseph Michael Gomila is an artist with musical experiences spanning from Rock guitarist through clarinetist in symphony orchestras, tenor in choirs, musical director in local productions, and Band Sergeant Major with the Band of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. A Berklee College graduate in Orchestration, Joseph has received numerous prizes for his compositions, including an award for a march presented at a competition to celebrate the anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman.
Joseph Michael Gomila became a music guru after working in private businesses and Government Departments; he took up a career in Education specializing in Music teaching. He joined the band of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment alternating between first and solo clarinet desk, and then worked through the ranks and was granted the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class being appointed Band Sergeant Major. Joseph is currently the conductor of the local municipal band and has composed pieces for different ensembles; orchestral, choral, concert band, marching band, processional band, as well as some ballads.
He has reached the finals and received special mention for the Freestyle Category and awarded a Special Prize for the "Action" genre in the 2016 edition of the international Maurice Ravel soundtracks contest.
