The Healing Drum is dedicated to preserving the power of traditional Shamanic drum rhythms of the yoruba tribal culture of West Africa.
The Healing Drum performs authentic shamanic drum rhythms from the Yoruba Tribal culture of West Africa. Some of these tunes are used in sacred Ifa (Similar to Voodoo) spiritual rituals. Until recently one had to be initiated into a very secret sect of Ifa in order to learn some of these rhythms. Drummer Michael Denney studied with two Yoruba drum masters: Ifa priest Baba Ayo Adeyemi and Talking Drum Master Francis Awe.
