ElectricKoraLand (New Age Tracks)Home: Australia ABOUT THE BAND: ElectricKoraLand (EKL) create original music using a fusion of world instruments, combined with contemporary sounds. Since their first album EKL have spread their global roots to an expansive repertoire featuring an Electrified version of the Kora (African Harp); Electronically modulated cello; Mbiras (Thumb Pianos); Hang Drums (Gong like instruments); Cajon, and Balafon (West African Marimba). These instruments are channelled through an array of effects, with various acoustic hand percussion of African and Contemporary influence, and programmed percussion. |

THE TRACKS; 1) JINADEE - a vocal piece combining Indian percussive and melodic patterns with African inspired song, harmonic chant and a line of beatboxing. 2) SPACEKATWALK A spacious piece comprised of sparkley Kora, draped in multiple violas set against a rich panorama of programmed beats, held together with a Steve Reich inspired Cello line. 3) INCOGNITO is about movement. The otherworldly sounds of the Hang drum are coupled with dark cello lines and restless Cajon (Spanish box drum, whispers of vocal tabla weave in and out like voices carried on a desert wind. 4) NANO JALI - This piece, feels like we had managed to squeeze an entire African Village into a very small space. Some of the studio flourishes give it a more ‘futuristic’ feel. 5) WAY O’ THE WHIRL”D Mbira (Zimbabwean Thumb Piano) takes you on a whimsical journey. Cello, Bass and Hoshos (gourd shakers) hold you to the rhythm. 6) THE ORIGINAL IMPOSSIBLE PERSON: Composed using 2 Hang drums, Cello, Djembes, and other percussion. The piece is as dynamic and eccentric as the name suggests. |
