Jeremy Moyer (New Age Tracks)Home: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario Canada Crossing the thresholds of two very different musical cultures, Jeremy Moyer is a Canadian erhu player, multi-instrumentalist and composer who has studied traditional folk music from several Chinese regions and performed in various world music ensembles doing everything from Greek music to Punjabi folk songs. His latest CD, "Mangoes, Musical Shorts Volume 1" features an eclectic range of original instrumental acoustic compositions, from meditative gong music to erhu smooth jazz. Jeremy is currently Musician in Residence, at the Shanghai-Zhujiajiao World Music Centre (China). |

2004 - Traditional music from Jeremy Moyer's CD, "A Discovery of Chinese Folk Tunes" was used in the documentary film, ‘Naruwan, Welcome to Taiwan,' broadcast on PBS. 2005 - The CD, ‘George, from Athens to Beijing,' co-produced by Jeremy, was nominated for Best World Music at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. 2006 - Original songs and erhu improvisations by Jeremy were featured in the award-winning W5/CTV/BBC international television documentary ‘Chairman George. ’ 2007 - Jeremy Moyer’s ‘Special Song, ’ co-written by Na Lei, was selected as one of three official theme songs for the Summer Special Olympics in Shanghai. |
