This phenomenal singer, lyricist, poet, and performer, Coco Zhao, originally from Hunan Province, resides in Shanghai and performs around the world, captivating audiences with his exceptional talents and spontaneity. Recent European performances and recordings received raves. Adding to the mix are Canadian Composer Jeremy Moyer (playing erhu, coconut shell fiddle, Chinese banjo, and percussion) and Steve Sweeting, an American Jazz pianist and arranger with a passport of influences. Coco’s music is rich with cool harmonies, elegant rhythms, and trendy Chinese Jazz and Pop lyrics.


In 2006, Coco Zhao and his band Possicobilities appeared as the first Chinese band to perform at the Montreal Jazz Festival in Canada. Since then, Coco has been captivating audiences in China and around the world, most recently performing and recording regularly in Europe with the group Sonic Calligraphy. American pianist Steve Sweeting accompanies and arranges music for Coco Zhao and other Chinese artists. His arrangements bring an energetic urban spirit and a deep sense of jazz harmony and rhythm to these haunting Chinese tunes. His playing is a passport of influences moving effortlessly from Jobim and Pixinguinha, to Desmond and Corea, to the mountain melodies of Henan.

Jeremy Moyer, a Canadian who has long made his home in China, is a multi-instrumentalist, improviser and composer who has studied Chinese music and erhu extensively while also performing and collaborating with a wide range of musicians from different stylistic backgrounds. He has produced recordings of authentic traditional music as well as original instrumental compositions.
