Ray Kosmick is the moniker of Slovenian composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and lyricist Borut Praper, who is currently based in Berlin. Since 1998, he has written and recorded music for numerous projects, including traditional and modern theatre performances, TV shows, short/feature films, documentaries, videos, animations, and public events. Borut has also played drums in numerous bands and side projects, and he's currently focused on his Progressive Rock band called Cynicism Management as well as his side project, Ray Kosmick.
In the last year, Borut Praper has recorded drums for more than 60 songs by various authors, and his work as an author, co-author, musician, producer or collaborator has been published on 30 internet releases, 15 audio CDs, and 2 video DVDs.
A gentle, melodic, melancholic track for piano, cello and synthesiser, conjuring up vivid sonic landscapes and a rather unusual mix of calm and uneasiness. Perfect for thoughtful, ponderous scenes, drama, perhaps documentaries, it meanders between more optimistic and rather pessimistic moments. Instrumental, Dramatic, Electronic Music
A tender, somewhat sad composition for piano and synthesisers in 7/8 time, very appropriate for dramatic purposes. Develops into a beautiful climax, but remains quite gentle and tranquil throughout. A lovely rather uniquely orchestrated melody, starting out with snare drum, acoustic guitar and synth strings before being joined by double bass, percussion, dulcimer, harp, flute and vocals and then dwindling out again. A dreamy, pensive composition for synthesisers and piano. Sounds a bit old-school, perhaps slightly reminiscent of Blade Runner or something similar. Synth pads are joined by a piano melody to form a beautiful if somewhat melancholic atmosphere, very useful for serene, slow, thoughtful scenes. Instrumental, Dramatic, Contemplative Music
A simple composition for a filtered piano with an underlying vinyl noise, sounding "old" and nostalgic. A bittersweet melody, reminiscent of a music box tune, conjuring up a picture of childhood memories, dusty past, moments long gone. Somewhere between slightly melancholic and pleasant, in a way. A melodic if somewhat melancholic track for synthesisers and electric guitar. The main synth phrase in 5/4 time signature, recorded with a complex evolving though slightly vintage-sounding synthesiser sound, is complemented with several electric guitars using lengthy sustain and slow attack. A poetic composition recorded with a multi-layered, very dynamic piano / synth string / "sea waves on a beach" sound, with an evolving but mostly nostalgic, even melancholic, mood. A ponderous composition for synthesisers. Sounds a bit like Blade Runner or maybe even Tangerine Dream. Evolves into a breakbeat middle part with a rather surprising chord progression. Recorded in the middle of a very long winter, which one may try to put out of one's mind but fails to do so. Instrumental, Dramatic, Sad Music
A percussion-only track starting with a ticking clock and then developing into a polyrhythmical composition, featuring synthetic and acoustic sounds as well as a melodic theme played on tuned tom toms. Particularly suitable for documentaries or any scenes focusing on time, waiting, tension, etc. Instrumental, Dramatic, Clock Music
