Each summer, Lindsay Popple travels to isolated parts of the Australian outback to capture the sounds of its insects and birds. He specializes in obtaining recordings of unique and previously unknown species of cicadas and making these sounds available to the modern world in the form of sound effects and ring tones. Having previously studied guitar through Trinity College (London), Lindsay is also an accomplished classical guitarist and composer. He weaves his own unique style through a platform of improvisation.
Lindsay has been capturing the sounds of cicadas and other aspects of nature for 12 years. He holds a PhD in zoology and has discovered and described many new cicada species. He uses only the best Marantz, Tascam, Sony, Sennheiser and Telinga recording equipment to obtain the highest quality recordings possible.
As a guitarist, Lindsay draws inspiration from the works of 20th Century guitar composers, such as Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Poncé, and modern Australian composers, such as Houghton and Westlake.
The solo guitar introduces a melancholy main theme then builds this into a decisive march through several variations, with a mixture of finger-picking and strong strumming leading to a reflective ending. Ideal for telling a story with a successive chain of events, documentary, radio play or film. Instrumental, Dramatic, Patriotic Music
This track builds its recurring theme into an uplifting and energetic solo guitar instrumental. Quieter variants of the theme create an interlude with harmonics and syncopated strumming. A perfect path to resolution in a story arc in film or television, promoting a product line, or in a documentary. Instrumental, Dramatic, Energizing Music
Starting with a reflective swagger and a moment of daydreaming, Treadmill launches into a fast-paced, dramatic guitar solo. It draws the listener in then travels a full arc before returning to its contemplative origins. Think of a sophisticated chase scene, edgy in places, with a definitive rhythm. Instrumental, Dramatic, Calm Edgy
