Bhaṅgṛā (Punjabi: بھنگڑا (Shahmukhi), ਭੰਗੜਾ (Gurmukhi); [pə̀ŋɡɽɑː] is a type of upbeat popular music associated with the Punjabi diaspora in South Asia, Europe and North America. The genre originated from the British Punjabi community in the United Kingdom during the late 20th century. Although Bhangra music uses many of the elements of Punjabi folk music (e.g. - "Bakkrey Bulaaney" - the goat herding vocalizations), it was also radically different in its embrace of modernity. The song structure of a typical Bhangra song features four verses, a chorus, along with two alternating instrumental bridge sections.
