Another glass of whiskey


She tells me that she’s leaving me; she says she’s done deceiving me
She says she’s going to live with her new friend
Well woman, what you on about? All you do is scream and shout
Why not put my dinner on instead?
She says that men you’re all the same, you think that life is just a game
You think more of your drinking than of me
Well a bottle doesn’t scream and shout, won’t carry on when I go out
And will always be there waiting up for me.

And so I’ll pour myself another glass of whiskey
It’ll help to clear that ringing in my ear

She tells me that I’ve got no hope; that if she went I couldn’t cope

Well woman quit your ceaseless din; can’t you see the state I’m in?
I cannot bear to listen to your moans
Now, I admit I’ve got some needs, cigars, my whiskey and indeed
I like my dinner ready every night
But I hear the local take-away delivers to the door these days
So stop your hanging round; I’ll be all right
