Give that man a wide berth
He's not a man to trust
He's got guilt written in his eyes from dodgy goods he's pushed
Could sell the sand to the Arabs even though they've got the deeds

The type of man the government want down on his knees 
But he's only really trying to do the best that he can 
By building up his empire out of dirt grit and sand
While there's trouble in the government and trouble on the streets
My neighbours cars fire I can't get much sleep 

Gritty Britain what's a place to be
Gritty Britain an island out at sea
Gritty Britain an island of Nations
But we fucked it all up for the next generation

Violin drunken rowdiness spills out onto the streets 
Police have lost control the system is getting weak 
Kids are running riot looking for a fight 
Everyone's a victim in this lawless plight 

What kind of modern world is this supposed to be 
When the poor are getting poorer 
Andrew the rich is rich can be
Excuse me Mr. Policeman why aren't you in a rush  
There’s kids chucking rocks and petrol bombs and junkies pushing drugs 

But we wouldn't want it any of away
This is our UK and this is how it stays
