Points Of (Un)Interest

It doesn’t seem so long ago that I was just a boy, inspired by the heroes on our screens
Cash, he sang the prison blues, Annie loved no more, Elton lit a candle in the wind
Now the talent shows have took our love and tore it all apart, success depends on vanity and greed. And the waves and TV stations fill with overrated fools who claim they’re the greatest thing that the world has seen
What’s the point in all of this if we can’t do what we set out to do?
What’s the point of interest dear, if I’m losing you?
Maybe I’m just getting old or I struggle to cope with change, maybe I’m just too stubborn to move with time. With an open mind I’ve walked that road, I hoped and I believed, but, disappointment always followed close behind. Cos I never had a sad, sad story to tell to break the nations hearts, oh, and the way I dressed, it wasn’t right. And I never wrote songs about having sex or being deep in love, but, if I had then maybe I’d of seen my name in lights
What’s the point in all of this if we can’t do what we set out to do?
