Swing music, also known as swing jazz or simply swing, is a form of jazz music that developed in the early 1930s and became a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing uses a strong rhythm section of double bass and drums as the anchor. The lead Instrument augments the rhythm section.   Keywords: "Jazz" Jazz Age Jazz band Jazz poetry Jazz standard Big band Improvisation Jam session Scat singing swing Benny Goodman called himself the King of Swing but I doubt if he could clap his hands in time with the music, basically he was a classically trained musician surrounded by some of the best swing musicians in the world. They swung he followed. Benjamin David “Benny” Goodman[1] (May 30, 1909 – June 13, 1987) was an American jazz and swing musician, clarinetist and bandleader; widely known as the "King of Swing". In the mid-1930s, Benny Goodman led one of the most popular musical groups in America. His January 16, 1938 concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City is described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most important jazz or popular music concert in history: jazz's 'coming out' party to the world of 'respectable' music." Even today many classical musicians have no idea where the beat is and playing off the beat is utterly impossible for them like Billy Holiday did and this recording does and many reggae musicians do.
