Baby Polo died
she didn’t get the chance to grow
my little friend died
I still can’t seem to let it go

And that ol’ tree came down
where my boy used to climb
that mesquite came crashing down
but, it left a seedling behind, to grow…from the summer…

What was ever precious
was stolen instantly
what was only blooming
was ripped away from me

The life that once existed
remains only memory
the spirit that was granted
was vanquished suddenly
and scattered in the wind

The summer of sadness
my little friend lost her life
and water kept pouring down
and nothing at all seemed right
