World Gone Mad

Good old Dan, he was a family man
With a fine suburban life
A real nice home out on the edge of town
Two great kids and a wife
He always kept up with the Jones’
’Til one day he fell behind
He lost his job and then he lost his mind

His nerves wore thin and his will caved in 
His utopian life line lapsed
Cocaine nights and the family fights
And  his house of cards just collpsed

On a country road around midnight
Tried to make a pass but too late
In a tick of the clock, old Dan met his deadly fate

How did it come to this?
Who would have believed that it would end this way?
The curse of a demon’s kiss
All that life
All of those happy years
Only to melt into tears
A story turned oh so sad
The sign of a world gone mad

Lucky John put his best suit on
Kissed his wife and his kids as they slept
One more name to sign on the dotted line
And the promises all would be kept
He’d dreamed of this moment since law school
Landing himself a big fish
A two hour drive in the night to seal his wish

Dreaming of fortunes still lying ahead
He failed to see the oncoming lights
Driving along on the country road
On a dark and quiet night
One moment of deafening silence
To end in a deafening crash
One fateful moment
Two lives gone in a flash
