Temporarily Insane

I was bad, bad crazy for a long, long time
But I lied to myself and everyone else/said I was doin' fine
I'd been stripped of my childhood innocence but never told a soul
My mind was spiraling downward and my heart was bitter cold

I held back an ocean of tears
As I walked through a desert of pain
And for thirty some odd years I was
Temporarily insane

And so I survived by holding back
But the dam finally broke, my tears flowed and I raged against my past
And as I came to grips with all my shame and the hurt that I'd concealed
Day by day, moment by moment I began to heal
