A Flickering Light

I've said this before 
I'll say it a thousand times more
Because you don't always hear 
When the real stuff gets near
You nod, fidget 
Take a sip of your beer

Tomorrow is cancelled due to lack of interest
I guess that you meant well and nobody's perfect
But all I can see is this flame in your eye

It's a flickering light

Concealed with a smile 
Wrapped up in a coat
Unwieldy, awkward 
Cracking a joke
The front gate sticks
And the back yards a mess

That you can only do your best
