The Point
First there was alcohol then there were drugs
The parents said you ain't doing nothing you just hanging out with thugs
I tried school and booze and listened to the blues
I was always angry didn't hear the voices
They were telling me that one day you're going to get tired and restless
And one day you'll be looking at the point
The point is slippery and shady and it will elude you
Some men go through wives and booze and quickies and panty hose
Others go through money and gambling and two year old shoes
And many die before they find the point
I was fifty before I found the point
And I don't  know if I can keep it because it will elude you
I see others that never seem to get it they try to find satisfaction in the wrong thing
And are always searching for the perfect woman
The point is elusive and scary many people try to find it
And never seem to make it I hope you will find the point some day
Now that I look at my life I feel very lucky
I was so close to losing and always seem to lose it
But I brought myself back and tried to save it
I feel lucky that I found the point, so if you're feeling down and lazy
And you never seem to make it just ask yourself if you found the point
And if you say no, just pick yourself up and maybe you will find it someday
