This big house in the country is where I’ve long called home,
Been living here since I was one; it’s all I’ve ever known.
The dorm I share with other kids has eight beds in a row,
There must be a good reason my parents let me go.     
Wonder if its my fault; don’t remember Being bad,
For six long years I’ve dreamed about the parents I don’t have.

I drift away at the end of each day, drift away to dream and play,
To be where my mind sets me free; to dream of a loving family.

Festive time we’re roasting nuts around the crackling flames
While beneath the Christmas tree a present bears my name.
Carols sing as moonbeams stretch my shadow on the floor
Then I rest my weary head and wake my dream once more

I dream Dad pushes my swing; we play till the nightingale sings.
I Dream Mom hugs me so tight;
Oh dream please don’t end, don’t wake me up my friend,
Let me dream till morning light

Then one morning my dream just fade: I rubbed my eyes to find,
Gone the eight beds in a row the only one is mine.
It’s not a dream, for standing there is my very own Mom and Dad,
Then that hug I always dreamed from a Mom I never had.
I Open presents under the tree In a small house I call home,
But the best gift is a Mom and Dad who love me as their own.

Dreams carry us through, and sometimes, dreams come true!
