Drunk On God

Been drunk on whiskey, high on crack cocaine
Zonked on pills some doctor gave me for some pain
But the biggest binge I've been on, looking back it seems so odd
I've never been as high as when I got drunk on God

Used food and money, exercise and work
Relationships and chaos to medicate my hurt
Thought that I was righteous, I was mostly just a fraud
Then one night I found myself completely drunk on God

Took my first sip, nothing happened
Took a big old swig, nothing happened
Finally threw my head back, got myself a bellyful
Then came this miracle

These days I pray some, try to do the next right thing
Give away what has been so freely given me
Now I don't give advice, Lord knows that's not my job
But the hangovers are powerful when I get drunk on God
