Pouring over morning
I can hear a soft rain
Tappin’ as I wake from sleep.

Just another Tuesday
Nothing much is new day
Do I have to rise and go?

Out among the people
That I beat a path through
Many things are part way done.

But I prefer a slow pace
Far outside the rat race
Roll over and pull the shade.

Outside is a gray day today
There isn’t a lot to say
If anyone needs to find me
I’m here in my Hideaway.

Papa rode the train in
To the city station
Got home after dark most days.
I saw what it did to him
Bringing home the bacon
All those family bills to pay.


Outside in the rainstorm
people honk their car horns
Someone’s always in their way.
But what’s the point of high speed
if you’ve got what you need
right here in my hideaway?

Outside is a gray day today
There isn’t a lot to say
If anyone needs to find me
I’m here in my hideaway.
My partner in crime beside me
Holed up in our hideaway.
