Looking back now, it must have been tough
For Mommy and Daddy to raise all of us
And Daddy worked the fields from dawn to dusk
And Mommy she never gave up

And up on the mantle a red radio
Took us all to the Opry center front row
And by the warmth of a fire life's lessons we learned
Were more precious than any hard times that burned

And every Friday night when the sun went down
Daddy would gather the family around
Miss Kitty and Loretta always stole the show

The years come and go, though some things have changed
The truth of the memories have always remained
So when I'm troubled and tired I turn the radio on
