Since beginning his composing career in high school, Allen Calmes has collaborated on many projects, mostly games, spanning all over North America, as well as in Australia and England. More notable among his soundtrack work are indie games Astroloco: Worst Contact, and Dwell, as well as released films When She Went Away and Day of the Hedges and also Back In Time, a documentary about Back To The Future and the cultural impact of the DeLorean. Though he primarily writes orchestral, he is comfortable writing in almost any musical style.
In 2009, Allen began attendance at the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and Arts (LSMSA) with a specialization in music. During his time at LSMSA, Allen completed an entire college curriculum in Music theory under Dr. Al Benner and had his compositions performed in concert over five different times. In addition, he composed scores for many different student films and school presentations, and by his senior year had become the go-to guy for soundtrack work.
Between school years, Allen found time to study under composers Wataru Hokoyama (Afrika, Resident Evil 5), Paul Lipson (Forza 5, HALO Spartan Assault, Infamous 2, Bioshock 2), and Duncan Watt (Bioshock Infinite, League of Legends). After high school and before beginning work on his Film Orchestration degree, Allen studied composition with Dr. Dinos Constantinides, and Jazz piano with Dr. Garth Alper.
