Based in California, Amir Sofi is a world-renowned Middle Eastern percussionist whose Darbuka mastery has led to performing and recording projects with some of the world’s most celebrated artists. He has collaborated and toured with music legend Stevie Wonder, and in 2001 he appeared on stage with Sting and Cheb Mami at the Super Bowl, performing to an audience of over 200 million. Amir's distinctive drumming style is also featured in movies like Green Zone, Prince of Persia, Body of Lies, The Kingdom, Spy Games, The Hulk, Syriana, The Scorpion King, and Black Hawk Down.
Amir Sofi has worked with Michael Bolton, as well as some of the finest artists in various Middle Eastern musical genres, including Hakim, Ehab Towfic, Googoosh, Mansour, and many others. He has produced several CDs for Middle Eastern dance, and has worked extensively with many of today’s top belly dancers, including Jillina, Sadie, Aziza, Virginia, Isis, and Tamra-henna.
