Jaster is a Jazz quartet from France built on friendship, with interplay at the heart of its music, and each of its talented musicians improvising, composing, and arranging. Their roots are in Jazz, Pop Contemporary, and World traditions. Their compositions are organic and dynamic, with sonorous textures transporting the listener from a frenetic trance to serene meditation. On stage, their intensity while playing creates a sound that is profound and lively. Jaster might seem like a funny name, but make no mistake, Jaster is no jester!
Jaster consists of four musicians with originality and obvious talent. They have a common code and their different roles are redistributed. Without feeling obliged to assure the official functions of their instrument, they play in a flexible way to multiply and intensify the sonorous textures. Therefore, the instrumental allotment is different from one piece of music to another. The bass often becomes the singer, the clarinet often becomes a didgeridoo, the vibraphone, the Javanese Gamelan.
