There was trouble in the desert on that hot and fateful day
After all was said and done someone was bound to pay
Standing all alone in the desert sun
Vultures circling overhead watched us on the run

Dark cloud over the desert sun
It's always been the rule of the gun
You know you can see the worst and best
It's a short distance from cursed to blessed

From the realm of rebirth in the promised land
Seas of fire – blackened sand
People trying to take a stand
The cards are dealt – so play your hand

You can burn in paradise or you can freeze in hell
It really doesn't matter when you're under the spell
When they come to take you, what will you say?
That you really don't understand and you thought you could stay?
