I’m tired of people getting hurt,
lives shattered to pieces in the dirt,
bombs of some terrorist group killing the innocent,
some guy with a machine gun putting dreams to an end,
I’ve been trying to come up with an explanation,
this little comfort in a shallow reply,
trying to say something smart, 
something to soothe the pain,
we need to stand together without hatred and chains

I’ve been writing many of songs,
about some girl I saw, or a love long gone,
this song is different, that is ok,
there are no metaphors for what I’m about to say,
lay down your guns, you don’t need them anymore,
start being kind to the people you don’t understand,
forget your fears, go and travel and shake some hands,
only when we share togetherness, 
we can conquer the hate that ties us down to our current state,
it’s a hate confused with frustration,
fired up with the semantics of this nation,
separating us further, instead of waking up
to be the man and woman we always wished to be,
all brothers and sisters, in front of our maker,
God, Allah, JHWH, Buddha, The Great Spirit, 
DIGNITY
