With world music flavor and creative use of instrumental voices, tracks from bassist/composer/multi-instrumentalist Joël Dilley’s five critically acclaimed albums can be heard on HBO, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Playboy Channel, Cooking and Travel Channels. From colorful and historic San Antonio, Texas, Dilley has performed and recorded with Willie Nelson, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, Herb Ellis, Tal Farlow, Arturo Sandoval, Richie Cole, and symphony orchestras in venues ranging from hole-in-the-wall clubs to the Moscow Conservatory.
In a wildly eclectic musical career, Joël Dilley creates and produces intricately crafted tracks in New Age, Chill, and Ambient genres to include Acoustic, Electric, Straight-Ahead, and Latin Jazz and Instrumental Americana. A nominee and winner in the Independent Music Awards and recipient of a grant from the Artist Foundation, Dilley was a featured guest bassist on Public Radio International's “Whad'Ya Know” and a featured composer on Texas Public Radio's “Classical Spotlight.”
A musical storyteller, Acoustic Bass is his main instrument, and he tries to coax from it as human a voice as possible. Influenced by Jazz, Classical, and World music, his Ambient and Chill tracks reflect his prior work with Indian and Russian musicians. Strong, memorable melodies and solid rhythm sections characterize his Jazz and Americana pieces.
