Yannis K. Ioannou was born in Athens and studied European Music alongside his uncle, the conductor Dimitris Metaxas at the Greek Conservatory. He continued “In Music Theory” in various conservatories and completed his studies at the Athens Conservatory, with Menelaos Palandiotis and other remarkable teachers. Yannis has been working with computers and synthesizers since 1985 along with taking classes from the Berklee College of Music. He is a key contributor of Mikis Theodorakis in the discography Litany, Litany II, Zephyros, and Politia 3.
Yannis K. Ioannou works as a pianist, conductor, producer and composer writing music and songs for theater, television, and Greek discography. He has collaborated with a major of Greek artists, singers, and actors, and has played in the biggest halls of the World. Yannis is a founding member and conductor of Popular Orchestra "Mikis Theodorakis" from 1997-2004 along with collaborating with Vangelis and V. Saleas at ORAMA. Since 2010 he has been working exclusively with various compositions and has released three personal albums (Achilles the Myrmidon, Autumn, Xafniki Vrohi).
