Richie Fontana, a native of New York City, is a multi-instrumentalist best known as the drummer in the band Piper with Billy Squier, Paul Stanley of KISS, The Skatt Brothers, and Laura Branigan. He has performed at the most prestigious venues in the United States, if not the world, achieved Gold and Platinum Record status, and has appeared on many TV shows. Richie's songwriting style is both Power Pop and Country Rock, and guitar-based Rock instrumentals perfect for Film, TV, scene support, Commercials, Games, and other multimedia projects.
Richie Fontana is the co-author of the Casablanca Records, Classic hit, Walk The Night, by the Skatt Bros. included in the hugely successful Grand Theft Auto IV video game of 2008. Richie Fontana’s influences range from The Beatles, The Byrds, and The Who, to Carl Perkins, The Eagles, and Procol Harum. A prolific writer whose style encompasses much of the aforementioned influences, with a definitive sound of his own categorized as Power Pop with deliciously catchy melodies, loud guitars, melodic Country Pop melodies, and ear candy harmonies.
He has shared the stage with the likes of KISS, ZZ Top, ELO, The Hollies, Meat Loaf, and others. TV appearances include The Tonight Show, starring Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, Solid Gold, The Guiding Light Soap Opera, Countdown in Australia, and others.
