David Greathouse is an award-winning, Missouri-based songwriter. He started out in earnest as a writer during the ‘80s. Heavily influenced by Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, Harry Chapin, Jackson Browne, Jim Croce, John Denver, and other lyrical Singer-Songwriters of the era, he considers himself a storyteller at heart. His own lyric craftsmanship has garnered significant local appreciation and his distinctive, compelling musical style is uniquely his. David works in the Folk, Folk Rock, Adult Contemporary, Pop, Indie, and Americana genres.
David Greathouse has been writing songs for over thirty years and after countless appearances in the area, he recorded a live concert CD at the Gillioz Theatre in 2008. In 2011 he began work on a series of Star Trek parodies and discovered a knack for writing and recording music for specific projects. Since then he has produced music for many local film and theater productions including several television commercials. He garnered his first Compose” and Musical Director credits in a 2012 production of Euripides’ “Cyclops”. In 2013 his song "The Voices In Our Heads" accompanied six, one-act plays of the same title. That same year he wrote "Still Falling" for a production of "1000 Cranes" a heartbreaking true story depicting life in the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing. In 2014, he wrote and recorded the theme song and score for "A Little Help", Missouri State University's student web series for which he won "Outstanding Theme Song" at the 2015 Los Angeles WebFest. That work was also nominated for Best Original Music Score at the 2015 Miami Web Fest. In 2019, David released a CD entitled "The Sound That Love Makes" and currently has two more in the works.
A warm, midwest summer night in July. The night ensues with leisurely abandon and its wild and varied creatures begin to stir. There is work to be done, but an absence of urgency in that purpose. Just another night in the eternal progression of being. Instrumental, New Age, Atmospheres
A victorious and totally synthetic march brimming with the redemption of emancipation. A new found freedom purchased by the sacrifice of generations past to secure a brighter, liberated future, finally seeing fruition. Instrumental, New Age, Atmospheres
