Remi Álvarez & Pere Soto (Dramatic Tracks)Home: Mexico Musicians Remi Álvarez & Pere Soto come to us from Oaxaca, Mexico. Remi Alvarez taught himself to play the saxophone and later studied composition and improvisation at the Creative Music Studio with Anthony Braxton, George Lewis, Roscoe Mitchell, and Don Cherry. Pere Soto is a self-taught musician known in the international scene for his aesthetical flexibility that covers genres as diverse as Gypsy Jazz, Free Jazz, Avant-garde, Jazz Fusion, Bebop, Classical, Contemporary, Improvisational, Electroacoustic, and mostly 20th Century styles. |

Credits for Remi Álvarez & Pere Soto: Pere Soto works as a composer and has more than 1300 registered compositions at the SGAE, (Sociedad General de Autores de España) with Jazz and Classical music. He is also currently active as a music producer with his own recording studio and is a consultant-engraver for music publishing companies, schools, etc. In 2006, he was dedicated in a chapter on John Engel ’Uncommon Sound" the ultimate book about left-handed guitarists that change the music, along with standing artists like Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, and Paul McCartney. In 2017, he was the main composer on the Soundtrack of Juan Carlos Fanconi’s movie “A place in the Caribbean. ” (Honduras-USA) (HBO Movie) In 2018, he was resident artist at University of Kansas. Remi Alvarez has been a professor of saxophone and Jazz at the Escuela Nacional de Música of the Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) since 1991. In 2005, he took a course in advanced improvisation at the Vancouver Creative Music Institute with George Lewis Evan Parker, among others. In June 2006, he was invited to play in the Vision Festival, a free Jazz festival in New York. |
