All four group members are of half Mexican/half Filipino descent and have grown up together since their elementary school and junior high days (they are more like a family). After many years of learning the business and brushing up their skills it wasn’t until the year 1999 the South Psycho Cide decided to take their "music serious". Real street life situations mixed with real street life mentality’s honors the South Psycho Cide enough credibility to relate to the worlds streets. The music is hard and strait to the point but at the same time has a true message behind it. In fall of 2002 the South Psycho Cide independently released their debut CD “Back To Da Streets” and was nominated for Best Hip Hop group at the 12th annual San Diego Music Awards sponsored by ASCAP. After creating a hot local buzz from their first release South Psycho Cide was once again recognized by the San Diego industry and nominated for Best Hip Hop group at the 13th annual San Diego Music Awards 2003.
