E. L. Mahon grew up on an Arkansas farm, but Classical oboe training at 13 landed him as the youngest member of The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. During and after his music studies at the Univ. of Arkansas and Berklee College of Music, he performed worldwide as a bandleader of Top 40 RnB bands, opening for Lou Rawls, Chaka Kahn, and other icons. E. L. [now retired from performing] lives in Colorado and plays sax and keyboards, creating lush, soulful Jazz with a fresh enlightenment that only comes with a life of observing and composing mellow sounds.
From the mid-1970s to 1991, E. L. Mahon toured with several Top 40 RnB bands performing in the US, Hawaii, Guam, The Philippines, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Puerto Rico, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and Panama. During these years, in addition to the above artists, he and his bands have opened for artists like Roy Ayers, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Bobby Blue Bland, Syl Johnson, and numerous other groups. During the 80's, E. L. called Hawaii home until moving to Colorado for the first time from 1991 to 1999 when he and his wife moved back to Hawaii.
In 2003, after having lived in Hawaii [again] for several years, E. L. and his wife, Debra, returned back to the mainland to live in Colorado again, and that’s when he began writing music again. Music is definitely both his muse and his passion. Fusing new sounds and orchestral elements, E. L. has created a soulful Jazz that enlightens the mind. Very fittingly, he has named the new genre “NueVision Jazz.” One of his tracks was recently used in the Rob Schneider film "The Chosen One."
A lonely but serene feeling of coming back to your roots after a long time away. Getting closer to home every mile and feeling it. Instrumental, Jazz, Smooth Jazz
Did someone say smooth? Well here it is. That moment when you get the nerves to ask that special someone to come to the floor with you. The sexiness of the tenor sax makes it all better. Mixed Vocals, Pop, Pop-Jazz
A Blast from the past. A powerful instrumental with soprano sax lead. Rythm that sounds like a cool late 60's early 70's groove. Yeah man, groove it. Instrumental, RnB, Groove
This track is a combination of cool and funk with a touch of vocals to bring it all together. It will groove you as well as put you in a state of mellowness that will take you to another place in time. Mixed Vocals, Pop, Pop-Jazz
This is a cool, mildly quick paced instrumental with soprano sax lead and other brass accomp. There are different parts of this song that can be used for many different formats. Take a listen.......... Instrumental, Jazz, Jazz-Funk
Just a smooth cool piece written and performed on alto sax during Covid 19 quarantine, just to remind us all of the little things we take for granted in our lives. Feeling Thankful and Blessed.... Male Vocals, Pop, Pop-Jazz
