Kneeldown, a hot new Portugese band is in the House, with the heaviest of Heavy Meta, has developed a large Metal fan base. Their hardcore performance of their Blankdisc demo CD won the Portalegre’s Music Box band competition and two other awards, Best Stage Performance and Revelation Band. With intelligent lyrics and beats reminiscent of Tool or Meshuggah, Kneeldown’s energetic front man is Phur, with Mau on drums, and Na on guitars. Maybe a Pepsi commercial or Coca-Cola? Nike? Working first as Z.U.M.E (Zeus Under My Eyes), they became well known for their Rage Against the Machine influences and some hardcore beats from the old guard. Through high energy performances, Kneeldown has honed its talents, changed their vocal dynamic, and taken a more melodic approach. True to their roots, however, they remain experimental in their new material. They have produced two albums: Trust No One, in 1999, and Blankdisc, in 2001.
